UBC releases IntelliNet packages and configurations

Yorba Linda, March 12, 1997: United Business Computers, Inc. of Yorba Linda, California announced today the release of IntelliNet support packages. IntelliNet is a dynamic and exciting product from United Stationers, the nation’s largest office products wholesaler. IntelliNet allows customers to access a dealer’s system right from their own computer via the Internet or a private network link.

The following products are designed to support IntelliNet via COPAS or any other business system. This family of products allow the office products dealer to take advantage of new technical capabilities on the Internet while requiring little or no technical capability. These products and descriptions are listed below:

  • COPAS Integration – Linking COPAS to IntelliNet – This product "links" COPAS to the IntelliNet system via a network connection. This type of direct connection is the most powerful as well as the quickest means to allow computer to computer communication. COPAS’ ability to "talk" at this level is quite different from other less sophisticated types of communication, such as serial to serial links.

  • IntelliNet Hardware – Base system – UBC uses major manufacturer’s hardware for all PC based products, including three year, on-site warranties. The base system for IntelliNet is a 133Mhz Pentium with 32MB of memory, 2GB disk drive, network card, tape drive for backup. Software required is Windows NT Server. Estimated pricing is $3,500 for the hardware and $1,995 for the required software and installation. Call for quotations as pricing varies.
